Hi All!

I moved to Toronto 5 years ago, and am STILL finding new Gems all over the city.

As a mid twenty-something in the city, I will use this blog to share my experiences so that you too may experience the gems of Toronto.

Whether you live in the city, or are visiting, I hope to give you some great advice on places to go, things to see, and people to check out.

Let me know if you have anywhere in particular you'd like me to cover. There is a good chance I have been there or done that - I just may not have written about it yet.

PLEASE NOTE: In the next few months you will see a lot of changes to this blog. Big things are coming, so hold on to your hats and get ready for an adventure.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy my reviews on all things Toronto.

Bellair Tan

Before Bellair Tan, I visited a tanning place downtown on Yonge Street. I let the girl behind the counter (also the owner) know that I hadn’t been tanning for a while, and was unsure of how long to go for. She put me in a high wattage bed, and practically cooked me. Think Lobster Red.

Needless to say, I was a bit nervous to try another salon. However, Bellair Tan on Bellair Street in Yorkville is right around the corner from my work, and during the winter when my Vitamin D had dropped so far down, and my skin became too pasty to bear; I knew I had to give tanning another whirl.

Upon my first visit at Bellair Tan, the gorgeous young girl behind the counter was very friendly, and took me through my options for different tanning packages. I chose my package and tanning oil, and told the girl about my concerns with being burned. She talked me through how and why that can happen, the difference between UVB and UVA rays, and assured me that she would not allow me to burn.

Although she really did seem to know what she was talking about, I was still a bit uneasy.

She quickly took me through how the machine worked, and left me to tan.

The bed was a great size, the music a good volume, and the fans were amazing. I didn’t get that horrible sweaty feeling half way through.

After my tan, the girl made sure that it was a pleasurable experience, which it was. And guess what!? I DIDN’T BURN! In fact, I found she had put me in the bed for the perfect amount of time. I could see the colour, and feel that great warmth, but I had absolutely no redness - Not then, and not hours later when it can appear.

The next time I came in, she remembered who I was, and checked again to make sure that I hadn’t gotten any redness.

That was the start of my relationship with Bellair Tan. It has been easy sailing since then and continuously great service. Plus - who doesn't love a 10 minutes stop-off to the beach!?

Ashraf - aka Mr Bellair Tan, or Tan Man - keeps in touch with all his clients through Facebook, offering great deals to those who join the Bellair Tan group. Always making time to check out his clients’ profiles, and share information and articles, he adds a new dimension of personalization to the salon.

Congratulations, Ashraf – a job well done!
